Glenfield Plantation is a picturesque cottage-villa in the midst of a wild landscape. It is the home of Marjorie F. Meng, a fourth generation family member. This brick English Gothic is from a period around 1845, and parts of the house are thought to have been constructed around 1812.
There is an air of substantial comfort in the house, with its double halls and galleries in front and back, which realizes the idea of simplicity and breadth. The back porches, enclosed with hand-hewn blinds, are also used for a summer dining room.
Glenfield Plantation offers a continental or full Southern breakfast for guests with all the trimmings. After your meal, you may wish to savor a second cup of coffee and plan your day's activities.
Area Attractions and Activities: Tours of Antebellum homes, balloon races in October, Mardi Gras balls and events. Biking and hiking are not far from the house. Nearby, visitors can pass the time with tennis, golf or swimming.
Services: Sitting room, banquet facilities, secure parking, wireless Internet, 180 channel satellite TV. Most Popular Rooms: Cannon Room: Queen size four poster bed, fireplace.
