 The Inn is located just steps from the historic Plaza in Healdsburg, affording guests the opportunity to easily explore on foot the many specialty shops, antique stores and trendy restaurants clustered around it. More than 100 wineries are within an easy drive of the inn. The Inn is known as a venue for cultural arts. Art classes and Celtic Music Appreciation evenings are scheduled annually. Romance, Spa, Antique Hunting and Family packages are available year round. Frequent seasonal specials are offered. Every week the inn celebrates chocolate with Chocolate Covered Wednesdays. Guests enjoy chocolate food, chocolate port, chocolate soap, chocolate candles, and chocolate body paint. Surrounding the inn are three renowned wine growing regions the Dry Creek, Alexander and Russian River Valleys and dozens of wine tasting venues for the area's premier wineries. Beautifully restored and furnished with antiques and Oriental rugs. Parlors, inlaid hardwood floors, twin marble fireplaces. All rooms thoughtfully appointed, with private baths and blissfully comfortable beds. Some rooms have whirlpool tubs-for-two and gas fireplaces. Swimming pool and air conditioning in season. Breakfast, including fresh fruit, a main dish, cereals, local sourdough bread for toast, preserves, juices, and coffee brewed Melitta style, is served each morning buffet style. Sample our own Camellia Cellars red wines at on-site, exclusive wine tastings. Area Attractions and Activities: Beautiful scenery, fine food, exquisite wines and great weather make this a favorite getaway destination. Winery tours can be arranged by limousine, jeep, van or bike or you can explore on your own the more than 60 area wineries with a Russian River Wine Road map. Festivals, open houses, special events, wine tasting dinners, barrel tasting, concerts and theater performances happen every month. Kayakers enjoy paddling along the Russian River that starts in Healdsburg and ends at the mouth of the Pacific Ocean. Picnic, boating, waterskiing, swimming and fishing are available at nearby Lake Sonoma or head to the Coast for deep-sea fishing, kayaking, tide pool exploration or sunbathing. Hikers, horseback riders and mountain bikers take pleasure among tree 310 feet-tall and 1,400 years-old at Armstrong Redwoods State Preserve and the Austin Creek Recreational Area with its twenty miles of trails and panoramic wilderness views. Eleven local art galleries are within walking distance. | "My husband and I spent one night at the Camellia Inn, and we wished we could have stayed longer.
The inn is a victorian style mansion, with a charming decor and interesting layout. The grounds are beautiful and the pool area is so traquil. It was the perfect setting for the nightly complimentary wine and cheese gathering. It was so nice to chat with other guests and the innkeeper while sipping wine by the pool.
The innkeeper was very nice and helpful, offering a wonderful suggestion for dinner and recommendations on scenic drives and sites to see.
The location of the inn was perfect, just a 2 block walk to downtown. We arrived in time for the evening wine and cheese and 2 jet lagged New Yorkers had a nice relaxing start to our vacation. The Inn is lovely, our room (Moonglow) had many antique touches. It was very comfortable. We couldn't open the front windows, so we had to use the air conditioner in the room. Everything, in town, was within walking distance. The breakfasts were delicious and we always enjoyed having converations with the other guests about restaurants and the wineries. Lucy was always willing to help us with our plans and make reservations (she got us on the waiting list at Willi's and we were seated within 5 minutes of our arrival time) and give discount coupons if possible.
