Bed and Breakfast Description

The house's beautiful arrangements antiques and fresh flowers complement fountains, ornate crystal and sunlit corners to compose a profoundly attractive and amenable dwelling. The Harkey House is not only a bed and breakfast inn, but also a delightful spot for weddings and receptions.

The house is a creamy yellow, classical Italian Victorian, built in 1874 as the home of the Sheriff William Harkey of Sutter County. Romance abounds in this elegant yet comfortable Victorian inn located in a quiet, historical neighborhood.

A full, gourmet breakfast is served in French Country Dining Room or by the pool. Sunny, peaceful courtyard, sedate yet exquisite parlor and intimate living room. Private, cozy guestrooms upstairs, some with fireplaces.

Original artwork of local artists is on display in most rooms. In room massage is available by special request.

Owners, Bob and Lee Jones are golfers and Bob is a bowler as well. They welcome their wonderful guests with all the pampering they deserve.

Area Attractions and Activities:

Yuba-Sutter affords the visitor a varied menu. The immediate area has many rivers and lakes for fishing, boating, swimming, and skiing. Located two and a half hours from San Francisco and two hours from the Lake Tahoe area, Harkey House is a forty minute drive from Sacramento.

Outdoor and cultural activities abound year-round in the Marysville/Yuba City area, along with the the Sutter Buttes ("The World's Smallest Mountain Range").

Challenging golf courses are located at Southridge, Plumas Lake, Peach Tree, and Rio LaPaz. The Harkey House is walking distance from the Yuba Sutter Fairgrounds and downtown Yuba City to museums, antique shops, restaurants and movie theater.

The Harkey House is walking distance from Downtown Yuba City, the Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds and the Beckwourth riverfront park. A bike path along the Feather River begins within a block of the Harkey House, connecting residents to activities which are only a healthy journey away.
