The Dykeman House today sits on approximately 4 acres of what once was a 450 acre estate established in 1740. The land next to and surrounding the house contains numerous springs, and has been known as Indian Springs and today as Dykeman Spring.

Breakfast at the Dykeman House is served in our large dining room, next to a cozy, brick fireplace and is a full country breakfast. Freshly brewed coffee and a selection of juices and teas complement the meal. This is graciously served on place settings of china, silver, and crystal in an intimate candlelight setting.

Special diets are not a problem as long as you tell us in advance.

Area Attractions and Activities:

We are only a two hour drive from Baltimore and Washington, D.C. Shippensburg is home to Shippensburg University. Wilson College is located in nearby Chambersburg, while Dickinson College, and Dickinson School of Law are in nearby Carlisle, famous for its annual car shows held at the Carlisle fairgrounds.

The Civil War Gettysburg battlefield is only a short drive away, and there are many historic buildings in and around the Shippensburg area. The area has dozens of antique and flea markets, auctions, and the local Amish can be see on the streets nearly everyday.

Hatch House Room: This quaint room is furnished with antique oak furniture. It features a queen size bed, TV, and private bath. It is located in the back of house and has a view of the back yard, Hatch House and balcony.
