Sorensen's is an historic resort in the Sierra Nevada which is committed to providing hospitality, lodging and food services of the highest quality to visitors and guests.

We invite you to come hike, fish, ski, bike, raft, celebrate your wedding or anniversary, plan a conference or retreat, attend a seasonal workshop, or as our guests have been doing since 1926, come up and refresh yourselves in the pure mountain air.

Sorensen's is located in California's serene Hope Valley, a pristine pocket of the Sierras, at an elevation of 7000 feet, and 20 miles south of Lake Tahoe. The resort lies one mile east of the intersection of Highways 88 and 89. We are approximately 4 hours away from San Francisco, 2 hours from Sacramento and 1-1/4 hours from Reno, Nevada.

Sorensen’s Resort offers an array of special workshops and activities throughout the year, with topics including star-gazing, watercolor painting, music, history, holiday decorations, photography, and more.

Most Popular Rooms:

St. Nick's: Redwood log cabin. Queen bed up spiral staircase, living room, full bath with Jacuzzi style tub. Small log cabins for families or larger homes.

Cedar: A comfortable cabin that can sleep up to four. This basic mountain cabin features two double beds in one room, full kitchen, gas log fireplace and bathroom with shower. Up to four people and two pets.
