Bed and Breakfast Description

Located five miles east of the village of Talkeetna, Traleika Guesthouse offers a unique Alaskan home for your exclusive use. Perched on the edge of the vast Northern Sustina Valley, the ever-changing moods of the Alaska Range can be viewed across miles of untouched wilderness and glacial rivers. The guesthouses are set within 14 acres of forested grounds filtered with dynamic mountain light, amber midnight sunsets, and crisp pink sunrises.

The view from Traleika is currently featured in several film documentaries, and has proven to be an excellent location for production companies such as Turner Broadcasting, Discovery Channel, National Geographic, and NBC.

Because of our 500 foot perch over the Susitna Valley floor, we have an exceptional vantage point to photograph Denali and it's neighboring peaks. On this same note, we offer guests a mountaineering photography theme through our collection of images.

Your host Whitney Wolff is a year round resident of Talkeetna where she has operated the Traleika Guesthouse since 1993. She has climbed Denali, guided, and explored in the Alaska Range since 1990. She has traveled to many of Alaska's most spectacular locations while guiding others on mountaineering, trekking and sea kayaking adventures.

Area Attractions and Activities:

Talkeetna's name means "where three rivers come together." The confluence of the Susitna, Chulitna, and Talkeetna Rivers host rafting, fishing, and abundant wildlife. Scenic flights are a must for fantastic viewing of Denali, the Alaska Range, rivers and tundra. We can assist guests in setting up any of these local activities.

Talkeetna is conveniently located halfway between Anchorage and Denali National Park. A stay in Talkeetna offers the traveler the best chance of viewing Denali - especially from the comfort of your private cabin! Talkeetna is the base for Mt. McKinley climbing expeditions and hosts the National Park Service Mountaineering Ranger Station. Rangers are on staff offering interpretive info about the park and the climb. Denali State Park has great hiking one hour north of Talkeetna with sweeping views of Denali and wildlife.

Traleika Guesthouse is open throughout the year for enjoying access to hiking, biking, canoeing, and miles of spectacular ski trails.

Sultana Cottage: Includes a kitchenette, private bath, living room, and deck with grill. One full bed in a private bedroom downstairs. One queen bed in a semi-private upstairs loft and one queen futon in the living area. Great mountainside deck sunsets.
