The Orchard Street Manor

New Bedford, Massachusetts.

Enjoy the luxury of New Bedford's whaling & textile past in a 1845 whaling captain's home, that was renovated/expanded in 1903 by a cotton baron to its current, graceful Georgian-Revival style. Eat lunch or dinner at nearby seafood or Portuguese eateries.

Bed and Breakfast Description

New Bedford, Massachusetts bed and breakfast: The Orchard Street Manor

Built as a modest residence in 1845-1846 for Whaling Captain Benjamin Clark and his family, this home was doubled in size in 1903 to its current, three-story, Georgian-Revival style by Henry L. Tiffany, a relative of the New York jewelry dynasty.

Now one of New Bedford's leading bed & breakfasts, it features large, airy, and elegant common areas along with spacious, individually decorated guestrooms or suites, each with a private bath.

If you appreciate Pairpoint chandeliers, beautiful woodwork, leaded glass windows, Italian marble fireplaces, and a cherrywood topped bar in the gathering room ... join us and step inside.

If you enjoy generously sized and fully decorated private guestrooms furnished with a sprinkling of antique and reproduction items, and sleeping on really comfortable queen-size mattresses ... we invite you to stay the night.

If you relish healthy breakfasts of juice, fruit salads, home-baked gourmet muffins, and freshly brewed coffee or tea, the whole served in an elegant, oval-shaped, chestnut-paneled, formal dining room ... please join us at table.

Moreover, if you need to maintain contact with the rest of the world during your stay ... feel free to use our WiFi network.

Your hosts combine several generations of local roots with years of international travel, teaching, consulting, and residence abroad on several continents. They are also fluent in French and Spanish and welcome providing a friendly environment for international visitors.
