Sitting high on the bluff, overlooking the beautiful waters and majestic mountains of Puget Sound, The James House is located within the historic district, just a short stroll from the charming downtown waterfront.

Exquisitely furnished with period antiques, all rooms have private baths and comfortable queen beds. Enjoy the perennial gardens, which bloom from January to October!

Stroll down the hill to the downtown district filled with fine restaurants, independent shops, galleries, museum, and waterfront. Other short walks take you to miles of beaches, delightful parks, or to the uptown district, where you will find mansions, historic homes, and beautiful residential gardens. We are home to Northwest Maritime Center & Wooden Boat Foundation, and one of only two Wooden Boat Schools in North America. Whether you like to walk, hike, bicycle, kayak, shop, or just sit and enjoy the view—there is something for everyone in Port Townsend!

The P.S. Express offers passenger-only ferry service from Port Townsend to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island. While visiting Port Townsend, you may wish to attend a performing arts event at Centrum.

If a guest plans to check-in after 7:00 p.m., information will be left for the guest at the entrance. Please call innkeepers ahead if arrival is after 7:00 p.m. to confirm arrival time at 800-385-1238.
