Bed and Breakfast Description

Wiscasset, Maine bed and breakfast: Squire Tarbox Inn

The Squire Tarbox Inn, a Midcoast Maine Bed and Breakfast in the Boothbay Harbor area & listed as an historical Inn on the National Register of Historic Places, is a quiet country Inn surrounded by fields, stone walls and woods. A peaceful salt-water marsh with rowboat and dock beckons beyond the pasture while several barns house goats and chickens.

This Maine B&B Inn is located away from tourist crowds but situated conveniently for coastal adventures. The Squire Tarbox Inn combines the best of 18th- and 19th-century character. The original house was constructed in 1763, and the original boards and timbers remain today. The newer addition goes back to 1820 and houses the parlor and the larger more formal bedrooms, all with working fireplaces.

The Squire Tarbox Inn has eleven guestrooms, each with private bath. Combining the charm of antiquity with modern comforts, each of the rooms is adorned with handmade quilts and antiques, all reflecting New England style and tradition. The Main House rooms, where the Squire lived, are more formal, with high ceilings, decorative moldings, king size beds and wood-burning fireplaces.

On the other side off of the Carriage Barn sitting room, the rooms have queen size beds, are more rustic with exposed beams and a cozy, country feel.
