Come relax with us on the American Riviera here in La Jolla, California.

The architecture is in the Craftsman and Mountain style, popular at Southern California beach resorts early in the twentieth century. The historical designation was given because of the setting and the beach lifestyle vacation rentals of years past. Construction was started in 1915, with the last structure completed in the late 1940s. The complex is now an oasis of quietness and greenery that preserves the uniqueness and garden atmosphere of old La Jolla.

Most of the furnished cottages include queen-sized or king-sized bed in the bedroom(s) and sleeper sofa in the living or sitting area. The units range from studios, to one bedroom and two bedroom/two bath cottages. Six of the units have fireplaces, and six are lined with redwood or cedar.

All cottages have fully equipped kitchens (with the exception of one studio cottage, which has a mini-refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker and toaster). Dishes, utensils and cookware are included. The cottages are "self-catering", with a supply of fresh linens provided at arrival. There are two coin-operated laundry rooms on the property. Maid service is available for an additional fee, and smoking is not permitted inside the cottages.

Redwood Hollow is around the corner from beaches, tide pools, and picnic tables in an oceanfront park. Just a few blocks away are the art galleries, restaurants, and cafes in charming La Jolla Village. Surfing rentals are available. Tours are available of the exclusive residential areas in the hills. The Birch Aquarium is just 10 minutes away at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography. The University of California at San Diego, as well as the La Jolla Playhouse are close by. Sea World and the San Diego Zoo are 20-30 minutes away. Tennis and a children's playground are available at the La Jolla Recreation Center, two blocks away. SCUBA rentals and tours as well as rentals of kayaks and other water sports equipment is nearby.
