 This elegant French country inn, with fireside dining, Old World charm, French cuisine and a relaxed atmosphere, offers an ideal setting for weddings, private parties, romantic dinners and weekend getaways. In our romantic seven room Victorian inn, each guest room is uniquely adorned with comfort and style in mind. Enjoy lazy mornings nestled in our Egyptian cotton bedding and goose down pillows. Enjoy a breakfast of of freshly brewed coffee, just-baked croissants with butter or jams. Guests may opt to make reservations with dinner included, in which case a table is specially reserved for the entire stay. Menu includes lobster ravioli with lime-saffron sauce, grilled Norwegian salmon with red wine vinaigrette, potato puree, bok choi, and Opéra - thin layers of génoise with coffee syrup, mocha butter cream, and chocolate ganache served with pistachio ice cream, chocolate mousse, creme brulee. Le Refuge Inn's home is the Samuel Pell House, a historic 1876 landmark which is a beautifully restored 19th century sea captain’s house, and now a romantic six-room Victorian Inn overlooking the 300-year old harbor on City Island. Built around 1876 for oysterman Samuel Pell, this house is a significant reminder of the enormous wealth that the oyster trade brought to the maritime community of City Island in the nineteenth century. Area Attractions and Activities: Just minutes from Manhattan, Westchester, Long Island or New Jersey. All roads lead to City Island, with its long seafaring and nautical history. Nearby are New York Botanical Garden, Bronx Zoo (Wildlife Conservation Society), Fordham University, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and SUNY Maritime College.
