![]() The Iron Horse Inn, a large Craftsman style home featuring ornate mill work and intricate leaded glass, has been pristinely restored. The Inn welcomes guests to experience another era of opulence when the iron horse reigned. Daniel C. Cogdell brought the train to Granbury, Texas in the late 1800's and left his legacy a block from the restored train station. We invite you to share our home in the tradition that began 100 years ago. Besides this splendid 100 year-old house, well-manicured grounds and flower gardens, the Iron Horse Inn is well known for total care of its guests. The first-class service begins the minute you are personally greeted by the owners/hosts, Bob and Judy. Each afternoon offers homemade refreshments of desserts and drinks and a time for meeting other guests. Reservations for the live entertainment on the square are personally handled by the hosts, either on the phone or when you arrive. The rooms/suites include fresh flowers, luxurious soaps, comfy robes in three suites, and fine linens. High-speed Wireless Internet is provided throughout the Inn. The Christmas season has gained its own reputation: decorated trees in every room, 25,000 white lights, Father Christmas collection, decorated garlands in living areas, and holiday treats make this a fairyland retreat. For fourteen years, the Iron Horse Inn has been praised by guests, Granbury merchants, travel writers, and book authors. Area Attractions and Activities: The town of Granbury, which surrounds Lake Granbury on the Brazos River, is popular because of its natural beauty and central location. The charming Victorian courthouse square, established in 1871, was the first in Texas to be listed in the National Register of Historic Places. There's an opera house, live theater, a riverboat, music, a brand new hike and bike trail right by the side of the Iron Horse Inn, carriage rides, championship golf courses, and great boating and fishing on the sprawling lake in the heart of the town. Services: Private baths, luxurious linens, robes in suites, Wi-Fi Internet access, front porch and fish pond. Most Popular Rooms: Cogdell Suite: Beveled French doors open from the canopied, 110 year-old bed to a large solarium with 13 antique windows enveloped by a canopy of 300 year-old live oak trees.
