![]() Sunset Hill House, A Grand Inn, is a historic 2nd Empire Victorian annex building of one of the grandest 19th century resort hotels to ever grace the White Mountains. The main hotel is gone, but the service legacy in a magnificent natural setting, lives on. All rooms have a view, private baths, coordinated decorating. Some have fireplaces, jacuzzis, porches, wet bars or all of these. The inn also has full conferencing facilities for up to 150 guests, and welcomes weddings up to 300. One of the highest hotels in New England (1700 ft), it has a view to match. ("Best Views with a Room," Yankee magazine, 1999, the article’s centerfold picture from our dining room). Matching the view is the acclaimed Restaurant at Sunset Hill, offering the contemporary French cuisine of chef Joseph Peterson (featured in Bon Appetit and Gourmet), awarded a 2006 Wine Spectator Award of Excellence. Want casual? Our NH Tavern is the place. Think comfort food, burgers, stir fries, ribs. No pretensions. Good beer. Classic New Hampshire Inn with a few bonuses like jacuzzis, fireplaces, decks, wi-fi, fluffy duvets, memory foam, air conditioning, and even some TVs. Fully ADA accessible. An “environmental partner” of NH’s Sustainable Lodging Program Sugar Hill village (1/2 mile walk) is one of 3 NH villages in the book "New England's Most Beautiful Villages.” Nearby (and in our view) is the quintessential White Mtn Franconia Notch State Park, home of the Old Man of the Mountain on NH’s state quarter Area Attractions and Activities: Year Round: Franconia Notch State Park, mountain climbing, historic sites, tax free shopping, walking, world's longest candy counter, hiking, antiquing, sightseeing, covered bridges, birding, incredible photo opportunities, performing arts, quaint villages, many restaurants, awesome sunrises and sunsets, Alpine glow.
