Bed and Breakfast Description

Three cottages and two apartments, each with kitchen and bath. Cottages have porches. Each unit designed and built by owner/operators Bonnie Goodell and Alan Miller, who have designed and built over a dozen cottages for local people in Volcano. Fine finish work of local and recycled woods. Bonnie is a planner and designer specializing in sustainability. This is a sustainable village in progress. Her current project is making nature trails in the six acres of carefully maintained and enhanced native forest.
Line-dried linens solar water heat as well as the always-available hot tub spa in the beautiful greenhouse laundry center.
Simple breakfast materials available 24 hours a day. No schedule, no fuss. Let the rest of them sleep in while you linger over your coffee and go for a walk.

Area Attractions and Activities:
Five minutes from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Rainforest and desert hikes, black sand beaches with sea turtles, and hot lava. We encourage green travel - fly less, stay longer. Lots of nature, not only in the area but right here in our six acres of maintained native forest with trails. And then you can relax in the hot tub, or read from our local library. Wonderful small museums nearby, artists studios, crafts and quilts, Hawaiian culture events, our water garden. Try a real vacation, instead of a rat-race vacation.
Most Popular Rooms:
Claudia's Place: With antique maple floors, separate bedroom and bath, sleeps up to 3. It is right next to the front porch/pantry/library.
The Cottage: Sleeps up to 6. Two floors with beautiful Koa wood stairs and windows on all four sides of the upstairs sleeping room. The main room has just been remodeled with new floor tile and new kitchen.
