Burke Place B&B

Bed and Breakfast Description

Marion, Indiana bed and breakfast: Burke Place B&B

The property is an original purchase by Martin Boots from the government by Land Title.Remodeling and an addition to the house were completed in 1999.

The lawn was professionally landscaped in the mid 1950's by the John Thompson family. Considerable time has been spent working to restore the 1950's landscape project. The original wrought iron fence that surrounds the property on three sides is quite a valued and talked about feature.

The interior of the home features mahogany and oak woodwork in the living room. The rest of the home has oak and pine woods. The beamed ceiling and traditional chandelier in the dining room provide an elegant but relaxed atmosphere for a leisurely breakfast.
Guest can enjoy the covered side porch or open deck, which overlooks an ornamental fish pond and many beautiful flowers, as they sip an early morning coffee or a relaxing afternoon cup of tea, weather providing. Guests enter the house through a vestibule into the main entrance room lighted by a glass and brass chandelier. The antique guest register stand sits in front of the beautiful staircase leading to the second floor guest rooms.

The living room features a gas log fireplace flanked on each side by built-in, glass-doored casework. The French doors open onto the covered side porch with wrought iron furniture. The ebony grand piano enhances the formal but relaxed atmosphere. A large bay-type window looks to the south towards the famous Wilson-Vaughn Hostess House.
