 This circa 1899, three-story, raised French cottage is built of brick and cypress, and situated on eleven acres of ancient live oaks and fragrant magnolias. Six fireplaces, usable antiques, and a 64-foot porch with swings aid relaxation. A 125' sidewalk extends from the front of the inn to "Friendship, Too," a magnificent live oak that's registered with the Live Oak Society. Open since 1986, Red Creek Inn was the Mississippi Gulf Coast's first bed and breakfast. It has been featured in The Jackson Daily Journal, Inn Times, Men's Journal and The Bridal Directory, and on WLOX-TV 13 and Mississippi ETV's Southern Expressions. On the Spring Pilgrimage, too! Karl and "Toni" Mertz are the owner/innkeepers. Karl grew up alternating between Mendham, NJ and Long Beach, MS, spending most of his adult life in the Atlanta, GA area. "Toni," originally Maria Antonia Martinez of Mexico, was raised in Monmouth and Galesburg, Illinois. A recent early retiree from federal civil service, Karl has written two books that are available through Amazon.com, etc. Area Attractions and Activities: 26 miles of beach, Jefferson Davis Memorial Home and Library, 13 casinos, 17 golf courses, Marine Life Oceanarium, regional and outlet malls, New Orleans-1 hour away. Services: Coffee, afternoon tea, hot tub, porch Most Popular Rooms: Victorian Room: 15x15 room with 10' ceilings and 8x15 bath. Has heavily carved four poster, queen size bed, door to 64' front porch with swing and large marble Jacuzzi. The French Room and the Country Room: Both are in the attic, with lower ceiling heights, which slant as you move away from the center of each room. Each has a private bath.
