![]() This historic 18th century house in the heart of Andrew Wyeth country, minutes from the fabulous Maine coastline, is a restful retreat for those touring the Maine Coast and a special treat for natural landscape and wildlife lovers. The English/American owners live in an adjacent cottage, leaving the whole of Blue Skye to be enjoyed by their guests. The inn's kitchen is available for guests to use in the evening and private candlelit lobster suppers can be ordered when booking. With acres of Maine wilderness to explore from the back door, there is much to enjoy at Blue Skye. The lawns and gardens with their sweeping views, giant oaks and hidden walks, provide the setting for summer games of rough croquet and horeshoes and there are picnic tables and grills placed about the grounds. In the winter, guests can cross country ski and hike before returning to the inn's welcoming fireplaces. The Inn at Blue Skye is open year round. Blue Skye is featured as a 2008 Editors'Choice by Yankee Magazine,is recommended by An Explorer's Guide to Maine and The Rough Guide to New England ,was profiled in DownEast Magazine, and is listed in the Official Guide to Historic Inns of America. Area Attractions and Activities: Ocean, rivers, lakes and ponds, woods, beaches, lighthouses and national parks, art galleries, museums, antique shops and auctions, fine restaurants and lobster shacks - all of these are within half an hour of Blue Skye. Our guests take evening cruises, go kayaking, hike, birdwatch, or just stay home in front of the fire or watch the fireflies and stars from the candlelit screened porch. Services: Picnic tables, hiking trails, outdoor grills, free wireless internet Most Popular Rooms: The Lower North and Library suite on the ground floor is a particular favorite with friends or family travelling together. While cool and quiet summer rooms, winter fires evoke the past and the far reaching views from both are unchanged from the 1700's. The Upper South remains our most requested. The 4 poster and fireplace and sparse New England look is softened by soft southerly light year round and there's a bird's eye view of the herbaceous borders and old English apple tree. |
