Bed and Breakfast Description

Portsmouth, New Hampshire bed and breakfast: Martin Hill Inn

Portsmouth's first bed & breakfast has been welcoming guests from around the world since 1978. Our guests enjoy choosing from our seven unique rooms located in two 19th century houses with quiet, private gardens.

The Main House, circa 1815, contains three guestrooms furnished with period furniture including canopy or four poster beds. The Guest House, circa 1850, contains four rooms with canopy, spindle, or iron and brass beds, and is connected to the Main House by a short, flower-lined, brick path and patio with a lush water garden.

All rooms have queen size beds, writing tables and sofas or separate sitting areas for reading and relaxing. Each has a modern, private bath. Air conditioning ensures that each of our guests will enjoy a comfortable night's rest.

A full gourmet breakfast is served in our elegant dining room. Seasonal specialties may include baked apples followed by buttermilk pancakes with wild Maine blueberries served with sausage and pure maple syrup. Or, you may have fresh cantaloupe with lime paired with puffy baked omelets and fresh scones.

You will want to stay at least two nights so that you can enjoy a good amount of what Portsmouth and the southern Maine seacoast have to offer before packing those bags and moving on.
