Bed and Breakfast Description

Fire Mountain is located just a few miles outside the village of Highlands, NC, on hundreds of acres. At the highest point on Fire Mountain, at an elevation of over 4,000’, sits a secluded mountaintop retreat composed of a sophisticated contemporary Inn. The private and intimate Treehouses of the Inn and our luxury mountaintop Cabins, all having exquisite long range mountain views.

Fire Mountain is a secluded mountaintop retreat with springs, streams, ponds, waterfalls and hiking trails. A truly wonderful retreat from the outside world.

To maintain the tranquil, serene, peaceful and very special environment, we do not have televisions, radios, clocks or alarms, and air conditioning is not needed.

Breakfast is the Chefs choice each morning and might include cream cheese, spring onion and egg scramble with crisp local bacon, just baked biscuits, cheese grits, homemade jellies, jams and butters, fresh steamed organic asparagus, with fresh cream poured over just picked organic berries, Fire Mountain roasted coffee, sugars and local creams, fresh squeezed orange juice.

Area Attractions and Activities:

There are many things to do at our retreat or in the surrounding area. Observe and absorb the natural beauty, watch a sunrise or sunset. View the stars from your private deck. Take a hike on one of our 3 hiking trails here at Fire Mountain.

In the area, there is every outdoor activity one could imagine: rafting, rappeling, gem mining, hiking, fishing, canoeing, horseback riding, and hundreds of waterfalls to explore.

Most Popular Rooms:

The Cullasaja Cabin: One large great room with hardwood floors, honey-pine walls, vaulted ceilings, fireplace and complimentary firewood, pencil-post queen bed, 2 person Jacuzzi tub and a fully equipped kitchen. Large deck and covered front porch.

The Red Thunder: Has the most expansive views on the property from the sunset side of the Inn. Tastefully appointed with a honey-pine queen bed, hardwood floors, sitting area, and our designer bath with a large 2-person soaking tub.
