A grand old home set in the center of scenic New Hampshire. The house is typical of the Victorian era which can be seen in the architecture, oak woodwork, hardwood floors, chandeliers and stained glass windows which all add to the charm.

Bed and Breakfast Description

The five main house chambers and three carriage house suites have been decorated and furnished in the Victorian style with many antiques and several bronze engraved fireplaces to add that special elegant touch.

Available on a year-round basis, all of the bed chambers and suites have private bathrooms, which include Gilchrist and Soames English Spa amenities and luxurious 100% Egyptian cotton towels. In addition, all accommodations feature cable TV and air conditioning and some include VCRs and phone jacks for modem hook up.

A gourmet breakfast is the house specialty using many locally grown organic produce and the highest quality meat products from Edwards of Surrey, Virginia. Always available are baked goods and imported teas. Specialties include, breakfast brochetta, eggs Benedict, garden eggs, asparagus frittata, crispy bacon and gruyere omelets, potato cakes with warm apple sauce, apple pecan pancakes and tipsy orange French toast, to name but a few. Breakfast is included for guests of the Main House only.

Area Attractions and Activities:

Newfound Lake lies only two miles away. The lake has several sandy beaches, including Wellington State Beach, where you can enjoy water sports and fishing. In addition to lake fishing, the nearby Pemigewasset River provides excellent river fishing.

Within 10 miles of the bed and breakfast is Cardigan Mountain park, providing 1,200 acres of AMC (Appalachian Mountain Club)-owned woodland adjacent to 5,000 acres of state park and 50 miles of trails.

New Hampshire has over 90 golf courses with 21 in the Lakes Region. Located on a forest hillside in Bristol, Newfound Art offers workshops in painting, print-making, and drawing on a year-round basis.

Other activities include biking, rock climbing, enjoying the beautiful fall colors, horseback riding, and for those who might desire a more leisurely pace there is an abundance of antique stores and local craft stores.

Most Popular Rooms:

Carriage House Suite 1: This suite has wall-to-wall carpeting, wainscoted walls & ceilings and is decorated with antiques. It comprises a separate bedroom with a full bed and a sitting room/dining area with a full size futon. Fully applianced kitchen.

Guest Room: This large but cozy room is decorated in fall colors and contains a king mahogany bed and a working bronze fireplace. In addition, the room includes air conditioning, an antique chaise lounge, armoire and gate leg table. En-suite bathroom.
