Richard Sharp-Smith, the supervising architect of the Biltmore Estate, built this home for Mary S. Wolcott in 1899. The home is on the National Register of Historic buildings and remains true to the original renderings. It has been beautifully restored to reflect the charm of its era, while providing modern comforts. Located on Montford Avenue, “The most fashionable street in Asheville 1895-1929,” this is the premiere location to enjoy all the services and attractions of the city and surrounding area.
Within walking distance to the culture, galleries, shops and restaurants of the city. It is only a few minutes drive to the Biltmore Estate, the Blue Ridge Parkway and the mountains, with convenient access to unlimited outdoor activities. The House is perfectly situated with beautifully landscaped gardens featuring two tranquil Koi ponds. Seven elegantly decorated guest rooms are offered, six in the main house, one in the original carriage house.

There is also the Blue Ridge Pkwy. with all of its hiking trails and amazing mountain views. We are 0.6 miles from the heart of downtown Asheville with its wonderful art galleries, shoppes, and fine restaurants. It's a 20 minute ride to Chimney Rock park, or 1/2 an hour to whitewater rafting, horseback riding, and gem mining, just to mention a few of the activities within close proximity to the inn.
