Built in 1878, the historic Primrose Inn is decorated in a light Victorian style that encourages guests to relax and enjoy their time away. Guests will enjoy the comfortable elegance of spacious rooms, each with a private bathroom, high ceilings, and carefully appointed with selected antiques and period reproductions. Many rooms feature cozy gas fireplaces, spa tubs, adjoining sitting rooms as well as private porches.

The Primrose Inn has been enhanced with today’s most requested guest amenities such as luxurious linens, flat-panel televisions with built-in DVD players in each guest room, central air conditioning, wireless internet access throughout the inn, guest refreshments at no additional charge and a daily newspaper delivered to each room.

Guests of the Primrose Inn will enjoy a hearty full breakfast each morning with a choice of hot entrees served fireside in our dining room or on our outdoor wrap-around front porch.

Our “Afternoon Tea,” featuring an assortment of freshly baked treats from the Primrose Inn’s kitchen, is very popular with our guests and many plan their day around returning to the inn to relax and enjoy it before dinner.

    The Primrose Inn is located just one mile from magnificient Acadia National Park. Visitors come to Acadia to hike or bike historic carriage roads or just relax and enjoy the scenery.

    Water activities in the Bar Harbor and Mt. Desert Island area include kayaking, canoeing, sailing and swimming.

    Sightseeing opportunities abound in the area with many ships originating in Bar Harbor for nature tours and whale watching. Bar Harbor is home to many fine galleries, museums and shops. Not to be missed are the summer music festivals that are held in town each year.

    The list of gourmet restaurants that are located in Bar Harbor is amazing - guests can easily sample a different style of cuisine each night for a week or more without repeating.

    A favorite of honeymooners, the Leffingwell Room has a king-size bed, Maine "cottage-style" furniture, a gas fireplace and a private porch and entrance. The private bathroom has a Kohler BubbleMassage air-jetted tub along with fluffy Turkish terry robes.


    Reservation Notes:

    Rates & Policies • Room Rates: o Prices range in price from $95 - $245 per night, depending on the room and the season. o Room rates are single or double occupancy and exclude a Maine Lodging Tax of 7%. There are no additional service fees or charges. • Minimum Stay: A 2-night minimum stay is required during the Summer and Fall seasons. Special arrangements can also be made for corporate guests. • Advance Deposit: An Advanced Deposit equal to 50% of the room charge (plus a 7% Maine Lodging tax) for the length of stay is required to confirm a reservation. • Balance Due: The Balance Due on confirmed reservations is to be paid at Check-in. Acceptable methods of payment at Check-in are Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, cash and travelers checks. • Cancellation Policies: o More than 14 days from arrival: The Advance Deposit will be refunded in full.. o Less than 14 days from arrival: Due to our short season and limited number of rooms, cancellations made with less than 14 days notice will forfeit a pro-rata portion of the Advance Deposit for each night we are unable to re-rent the room.
