Truly “A Very Special Place,” The Captain Jefferds Inn is a warm and inviting 1804 sea captain’s home. From the time you enter through the red front door, you will experience the charm, comfort and exceptional hospitality provided by the innkeepers and dedicated staff.

The elegant mansion contains 15 guestrooms and suites many with working fireplaces and all with exceptional amenities. Four-poster beds, luxury 600 count linens and silk towels, candlelight breakfasts, 2-person whirlpool spa's and beautifully manicured lawns and gardens.

Breakfast is indeed a special time. The three courses are entirely homemade and prepared fresh daily in our kitchens. Our signature dishes include apricot-stuffed French toast with orange glaze, Maine blueberry bread pudding with homemade blueberry sauce, pumpkin pancakes with apple smoked bacon and cider syrup, or baked eggs florentine.

Area Attractions and Activities:

Nestled in Kennebunkport's quiet historic residential district and surrounded by beautifully manicured lawns and gardens, the inn is 3 blocks to Dock Square, Kennebunkport's village center. There you will enjoy specialty boutiques, art galleries, antique shops and a full range of restaurants from local lobster pounds to five diamond rated restaurants.

The Captain Jefferds Inn is just a ˝ block from the Kennebunk river where you can sail along the Maine coast on a traditional gaff rigged schooner or explore the river in a kayak or canoe. If you would like you can venture further out into the Atlantic Ocean to see our annual migrating whales, learn about lobstering or try your hand at deep-sea fishing.

There are four near-by beaches suitable for swimming, surfing or just relaxing. Also there are hiking trails, the Rachel Carson Reserve, the Bridle path and the Laudholm trust for walking and cross-country skiing. As well as Harris Farm for groomed cross-country ski trails.

Check In Instructions:

The door is locked at 10 pm. If arrival is after 7 pm, call (800)839-6844 or (207)967-2311, as soon as you know you are going to be late. An envelope is left outside with instructions how to get to your room.
