The Whistler
Huntsville, Texas.
An elegant home, built in 1859, fully restored to its Victorian Splendor. Located in historic Huntsville, the Mount Vernon of Texas and home of Texas hero Sam Houston.
Bed and Breakfast Description

Walk back in time. The Whistler is a fifth generation family home that is treasured and loved. The two-story, neoclassical wood frame residence is one of the oldest homes in Walker County, and is situated on three acres of land just north of downtown Huntsville.
The property is shaded by large pecan, cedar, carolina ash, crape myrtle and oak trees, some of which are older than the house itself. In fact, three of these trees (crape myrtle, cedar and carolina ash) have been designated by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission as being the largest and oldest of their species in Walker County.
Guests can't resist the peacefulness of the porch. A quiet breeze might be all that keeps you from falling asleep as you rest on the front porch. You will always be treated with sincere hospitality, a hallmark of this home.
A complete gourmet breakfast, private baths and original antique furnishings come together to make your stay here unique and unforgettable.
The Whistler is available for special occasions, weddings, receptions, anniversaries, business meetings, etc., so please inquire!
On your stroll through the house and grounds you may wonder if you have gone on a journey back through time. You may well envision the way things used to be when you take a walk down “memory lane” with Mary Clegg, who has lovingly preserved and displayed the artifacts and precious memories of her family’s heritage.
