Hellman Guest House
Galena, Illinois.
Built with Galena brick in Queen Anne style, glows with 19th century beauty and elegance. Four guestrooms, gourmet breakfasts. View from the Porch is the finest on the Hill.
Bed and Breakfast Description

You’re sure to enjoy this comfortably inviting home with its period furnishings whether your pleasure is reading in the library; viewing Galena through the parlor’s antique telescope; gathering in the parlor for a chat; or capturing a quiet moment on the porch, patio, or in the gardens. The third floor, was originally built as a ballroom for the Hellman family. There you can enjoy gazing over miles of scenery that include a breathtaking view of farms dotted along the JoDaviess countryside, trees dressed in a rainbow of colors; especially in the fall, and the historic Galena downtown area.
Handsome stained glass windows fill the rooms with rainbows of sunlit color. Five coal burning fireplaces delight the eye and warm the body. Sliding pocket doors, oak paneling in the foyer and original woodwork throughout the house inspire the soul.
Visit the recently built two tiered waterfall that cascades down the Galena limestone retaining wall into a delightful koi pond. Sit in the gardens and relax to the gentle sound of the water, enjoy the beautiful flowers, and watch the birds play. The gardens throughout the property are dedicated to past and present owners; each with its own marker. You are also welcome to snuggle to a crackling fire under the stars at our outside fireplace on the back patio. Plenty of firewood and marshmallows are always available!
Area Attractions and Activities:
Whether by car, trolley, bicycle or on foot, there are so many ways to experience our colorful countryside and intriguing history.
