Bed and Breakfast Accommodations

December 11, 1620. When John Alden disembarked on Plymouth Rock as first passenger of the Pilgrims Mayflower he could not foresee that one of his direct descendants would have given birth to the mansion that now hosts the Maine Stay Inn. In 1802 in fact the carpenter, Alden Bass, built a house at 22 High Street. Those were the times when Thomas Jefferson was President of the United States. Route 1 was a dirt road and Maine was still part of the state of Massachusetts.
Relaxed, cozy and very friendly, the Maine Stay Inn is a grand old home located in the historic district of one of America's most beautiful seaside villages. It projects the true essence of New England, its history and its tradition.
Our three parlors, one with a wood burning fireplace, are tastefully decorated. Highly crafted ornate iron castings form the mantel and surround the hearth in the North Parlor. Many of the rooms have original wide plank pine flooring.
The inn's grounds include a one-acre garden with tree-lined winding paths, a brook with a granite bridge, benches, and a swing.
