Casitas de Gila Guesthouse
Gila, New Mexico.
Southwestern guesthouses & art gallery on 90 acres overlooking Bear Creek and the Gila Wilderness, near Silver City, New Mexico. Our Stress-Free Zone was selected by Sunset Magazine in 2007 as a "Top 10 Hidden Getaway". Explore by day, relax at night!
Bed and Breakfast Description

Rugged high desert landscape with views of the Gila Wilderness. From your Casita, you look down on Bear Creek and up on the cliffs and mountains that surround us.
At Casitas de Gila, a diversity of birds, animals, plants, and landscape will greet you every time you step outdoors. Early risers, enjoying a morning cup of coffee on their portal, may watch and hear quail, scrub jays, or hummingbirds in the pines around the Casitas or catch a glimpse of the mule deer and bighorn sheep that are frequent visitors to the cliffs above Bear Creek, across from the Casitas.
The hot tub perched on the edge of the cliff above the creek makes a wonderful ringside blind for watching birds and animals. When the sun begins to warm you, you can move your "activity" down to our hammock, in the shade of the willows and cottonwoods bordering the creek, for a peaceful nap or quiet nature observation.
Casita kitchens are stocked for breakfast with cereals, yogurt, orange juice, 2% milk, bagels, English muffins, as well as coffee and tea. In each kitchen, our guests will also find an assortment of condiments and spices (including salt, pepper, ketchup, mustard, mayo, herbs and spices) and sodas and cookies. All this is supplied with no additional charge. Each casita has a bbq grill and we also have a gas grill available.
Area Attractions and Activities:
By late morning, you may be ready to spend time exploring Bear Creek and learning about the area's flora, fauna, geology and history on our self-guided nature trail.
If you're feeling more adventurous, take a horseback ride and see and experience the beautiful vistas of the Gila National Forest and Gila Wilderness, canyon riding, river crossings, and wildlife. Trail rides from two hours to all day are available in the nearby Glenwood area, with advance reservations.
You can also visit the Catwalk Nature Trail in Glenwood, Mogollon Ghost Town, and the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument while you are staying at Casitas de Gila. Silver City is nearby, with its galleries and museums, too.
