Wisconsin House
Hazel Green, Wisconsin.
A country furnished bed and breakfast, we're located just 10 miles north of Galena, Illinois, 13 miles west of Dubuque, Iowa, and 15 miles south of Platteville, Wisconsin.
Bed and Breakfast Description

The inn was built in 1846 as a stagecoach stop, when Hazel Green was a bustling frontier village. Lead mining was the boom industry and smelting and moving the ingots to the east placed Hazel Green on the well-traveled road. Soon though, the miners would chase after gold in California, and the area would go into a boom and bust cycle depending on the demand for lead.
Today, the village is a bedroom community for Galena and Dubuque, and the inn offers its comforts to those who want to avoid the hustle and bustle.
Offering eight rooms for the comfort of the weary traveler; most with private bath. Hearty, full breakfast served each morning. Most conveniently located for visiting all the attractions of the Tri-States -- Galena, IL is just 10 minutes away, Dubuque, IA 15 minutes, and Platteville, WI 20 minutes.
Ken and Pat Disch, innkeepers, invite you to browse the Wisconsin House Stage Coach Inn web site, visit the rooms, and call or e-mail with your reservations. We look forward to your visit!
Area Attractions and Activities:
Most guests at the inn come to enjoy visiting Galena, Illinois. Famous for its 1850's architecture, Galena was the river and market town of the lead mining area. The river silted up at Galena and by the Civil War, Dubuque was the merchants' headquarters.
The Victorian architecture in both cities is worth seeing. The Mississippi River and the parks along it--Mississippi Palisades, Pikes Peak, Efigy Mounds, Nelson Dewey, Wyalusing- are all within an hour or two and offer unique hiking and birdwatching opportunities.
Services:
Library, garden, gazebo, porches, American Indian accessories, arched ceilings, king size canopy bed
Most Popular Rooms:
The Mississippi Room: A dormered room decorated with ducks and river scenes. Facing the village park, the room is airy and bright. The king size bed and sitting area with sofa and chairs, offers a comfortable feeling of coziness and roominess.
The 2-Bit Suite: The third floor of the historic part of the inn. 40 feet long, there's a king size canopy bed on one side and a full size bed with 2 day beds on the other. Ideal for a family, or a group of friends.
