    Area Attractions and Activities:

As a neighboring bedroom community of Portland, the city of Westbrook has a pleasant small-town style and appearance having been linked for more than a century to the Maine wood and paper industry. Back in the day, mills throughout the country had grand presidents’ mansions. The Elms is such a property. Today although serving as an Inn, 'The Elms' has maintained its grander and architectural integrity and beauty inside and out. Just as architect John Calvin Stevens had designed.

Nestled on the banks of the Presumpscot River, is the site of a lovely waterfront park, with the Saccarappa Falls right in the middle of town. Incorporated in 1891, the city is named for an early settler, Col. Thomas Westbrook.

Nearby Portland is an old seacoast town. It is also a funky city filled with galleries, one-of-kind boutiques and shops, and incredible restaurants serving everything from New England clam chowder & lobster shacks, to international cuisine. Lighthouses, beaches, parks, islands
