Solicitous for the well being of our guests we have filled the Inn with much to delight your eyes and sensibility. Original artworks, archaic artifacts and natural curiosities are a wonder to behold and burnished antiques speak of home and security. Displayed throughout the Inn are fascinating collections of Japanese Ukiyo-e prints, Pre-Colombian artifacts, modern paintings, bas-relief sculptures and a varied library that will satisfy all.

Three Rivers wend through a Colonial landscape of Minutemen's fields where moss-covered stonewalls embrace the homes of Hawthorne, Alcott, Emerson and Thoreau. As you amble in the footsteps of Patriots and Poets savor the Inn's unique location near the Author's homes, Village Shops, Walden Pond, Minuteman National Park and the Old North Bridge, where was fired, "the shot heard 'round the world".

Many choose the Hawthorne as a base for day-trips to explore nearby Boston, Cambridge, Sturbridge Village, Salem and Plymouth.

Area Attractions and Activities:

The inn is located directly across the lane from "Wayside", Nathaniel Hawthorne's home. Take a short walk to follow the Battle Road, of the 1775 Minute Men, to the homes of Louisa May Alcott & Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Nearby is the Concord Museum, which houses Paul Revere's lantern, and the Old North Bridge where the Minutemen fired "The Shot Heard 'round the World" that began the American Revolution in 1775.

The 1000 acre Minute Man National Park has extensive trails & interpretive programs that explain colonial living and the day of battle.

For a quick respite, many enjoy canoeing on Concord's three rivers, or going for a swim & picnic at Walden Pond, made famous by Henry David Thoreau. If you have time, Concord's unique village setting with abundant shops awaits your exploration.

Boston is only 30 minutes away by auto, and Cambridge is even closer. It is easy to take a day trip into the city, even by commuter rail, and still enjoy the open spaces of Concord at night.
