Hawthorne Inn
Concord, Massachusetts.
An intimate New England B & B, where history, literature & artistic whimsy intertwine, just 19 miles from Boston. The Hawthorne Inn is located close to the homes of Hawthorne, Alcott, Emerson, Thoreau's Walden Pond & Old North Bridge.
Bed and Breakfast Description

The Hawthorne has been recognized by Forbes Magazine: "The 10 Best Inns of New England." Boston Magazine Voted the Hawthorne Inn "Best Place To Stay." Yankee Magazine highlighted the Hawthorne Inn an editor’s choice in the April 2006 edition.
Amidst the feathered shade of aged trees, by bountiful gardens of entangled hues, find respite on our rustic bench and sense the whisper of Concord's muse. Beside the old road that has witnessed the courage of Minute Men marching to first challenge the King's troops, Hawthorne inn was raised [c.1870] on fertile earth that was once owned by Emerson, Hawthorne and the Alcotts.
We have filled the Inn with much to share: poetry and literature to entertain you, artworks that are a wonder to behold, weavings and coverlets to snuggle on a crisp Autumn eve, and burnished antique furnishings that speak of home and security.
Seated each morning about a convivial dining table, you will be served, on handpainted Dedham pottery, wholesome fresh baked breads with specialty jams, ripe seasonal fruits and succulent juices, granola made locally with berries and maple sugar, yogurt or cheese, and a selection of fine teas or our own special blend of freshly roasted coffee.
For every night's booking, a donation is made to Habitat For Humanity International.

Area Attractions and Activities:
The inn is located directly across the lane from "Wayside", Nathaniel Hawthorne's home. Take a short walk to follow the way of the Minute Men to the homes of Louisa May Alcott & Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Nearby is the Concord Museum, which houses Paul Revere's lantern, and the Old North Bridge where the Minutemen fired "The Shot Heard 'round the World" that began the American Revolution in 1775.
The 1000 acre Minute Man National Park has extensive trails & interpretive programs that explain colonial living and the day of battle.
For a quick respite, many enjoy canoeing on Concord's three rivers, or going for a swim & picnic at Walden Pond, made famous by Henry David Thoreau. If you have time, Concord's unique village setting with abundant shops awaits your exploration.
Boston is only 30 minutes away by auto, and Cambridge is even closer. It is easy to take a day trip into the city, even by commuter rail, and still enjoy the open spaces of Concord at night.
Most Popular Rooms:
Gracious appointments are inspired by a refreshing sense of tradition mixed with the unexpected. Canopy beds, antique furnishings, woven fabrics and original artworks meld to create a memorable event. Comfort, creativity and care.
Pull the overstuffed armchair close to Emerson Room's private fireplace and let the evening drift by in reverie. The queen size Pineapple four poster bed, 19th century Japanese prints and striped wallcovering convey the sensibility of an earlier time.
