Wharf Master's Inn

Point Arena, California.

The Wharf Master's Inn is by far one of the most beautiful of all Mendocino & Point Arena hotels. Most rooms feature a two person, in-room Jacuzzi, panoramic ocean views, balconies, fireplaces & feather beds. A great romantic getaway.

Bed and Breakfast Description

Point Arena, California bed and breakfast: Wharf Master's Inn

The historic Wharf Master's Inn is a unique, 25 room inn, located on a bluff overlooking a hidden ocean cove. The structure was actually built around, and in the same style as, the original mid-nineteenth century Wharf Master's House, which dates back to 1865. This very special home remains one of the oldest structures in Mendocino County, and was the place that the Wharf Master lived and worked. The Wharf Master's job required a sweeping view of the ocean and cove, so this historic house affords guests the most spectacular vistas of the ocean from its ornate balcony, and is available for rent as a vacation home.

A feeling of grandeur and sophistication awaits those who venture up the steep driveway to the Wharf Master's Inn. The Inn's location in a protected cove creates a wonderful micro climate unique along the Mendocino Coast. It is popular for those seeking a romantic getaway, surfing enthusiasts, families and those who simply want to watch a spectacular ocean sunset from one of the best vantage points anywhere.

The Wharf Master's Inn also features a beautiful inner courtyard that is elegantly adorned with lovely gardens, trickling fountains and hand-carved sculptures. Guests make their way through this courtyard on the way to rooms that feature luxurious four post feather beds, wood burning fireplaces, private balconies with phenomenal views of the Pacific, two person Jacuzzi tubs, wireless Internet and elegant decor.

One of California's smallest cities, Point Arena is distinguished as a state historical district on meandering Highway 1 in southern Mendocino County. From the slopes of the coastal ridge to the sea spray of the Pacific Ocean, the town enjoys a moderate climate with misty fog carried on coastal breezes interspersed with warm, sunny days. The Wharf Master is the best choice for hotels in Point Arena and Mendocino.

Point Arena businesses are housed in historic buildings, some dating back to the 1800's. Among them is the beautifully restored Arena Theater, a site where Vaudeville shows once livened the downtown scene.
