Mountain View Inn

Waitsfield, Vermont.

Bed and Breakfast Description

Waitsfield, Vermont bed and breakfast: Mountain View Inn

Mountain View Inn has all the charm of an old Vermont farmhouse with the comfort of modern conveniences. The old wide pine floors have been uncovered, finished and graced with both old and new braided rugs. In the living room we replaced the old floor with wide pine boards—two are almost 28 inches wide—from a pine tree that grew at the corner of the house until it was struck by lightening. Both sides of our family have gifted us with wonderful antique furniture—our dining room table, a ceiling high corner cupboard and numerous beds among other things. All of these have been incorporated into a relaxed friendly setting in the country.

Delicious breakfasts served around our large harvest table looking out at the Green Mountains. Enjoy the open burning fire in the living room during cool weather or the porch swing and the beautiful gardens during warmer months.

    Area Attractions and Activities:

Mountain View Inn is located on 3+ acres just across the road from the Mill Brook. In the winter cross-country skiers can access the Catamount Trail which parallels the road and takes them toward Mad River Glen.

We are just over three miles from where the Long Trail crosses the Appalachian Gap on Rt. 17. This is the perfect access for hikers to go either north or south on the trail. For those people who only have a short time to hike, Molly Stark's Balcony, reached by going north on the Long Trail from Appalachian Gap, affords a beautiful view overlooking the beaver pond and the valley to the west.
