Williamsburg, Virginia bed and breakfast: Piney Grove at Southall's Plantation
The grounds of this National Register landmark include Piney Grove (1790), Ashland (1835), Dower Quarter (1835), Ladysmith (1857) and Duck Church (1917), as well as plantation outbuildings, the Harwood family graveyard, a nature trail and barnyard of farm animals.

Historic accommodations are located in the 1857 Ladysmith House. The beautifully restored home features spacious rooms furnished with antiques and family heirlooms, as well as modern conveniences such as air conditioning, in-room refrigerators and private baths with hairdryers.

Guests arrive to mint juleps or hot toddies depending on the season. Elegant tavern dining is available nearby at Indian Fields Tavern or the Coach House Tavern. During the cooler months, turndown service includes the warm glow of a woodburning fire. Brandy or sherry nightcaps await guests under the gasolier hall chandelier. A farm bell announces the served candlelight plantation breakfast in the 1790 Log Room.

The living community of rural Charles City County - where American history is experienced against the backdrop of the landmark James River Plantations of Belle Air, Berkeley, Edgewood, Kittiewan, North Bend, Sherwood Forest, Shirley and Westover.

Other nearby historic sites include Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown. Also nearby are numerous Civil War sites in Petersburg, Richmond and Hopewell.

Recreational activities include numerous golf courses, the Colonial Downs Race Track and a variety of local and state parks. Williamsburg also includes a variety of shopping experiences including outlet shopping.

The Sallie Smith Room: Is situated on the second floor of Ladysmith House and overlooks the gardens and Pine Grove. Family heirlooms include a Victorian loveseat, chest of drawers crafted by a family member, floral prints and W.P.A. photographs.
The Greene Suite: A spacious two-room arrangement that accommodates four people is located on the ground floor and situated in the original winter kitchen of the house. Exposed oak beams, brick walls and a stone fireplace wall are unique features.
