Bed and Breakfast Description

Hillcrest B&B is located up valley near the base of Mt. St. Helena. A 5-minute drive from the home will take you to the main streets of Calistoga with their many restaurants, spas and nearby wineries. A winding 1/4-mile driveway leads up to the rambling country home surrounded by lush palms, shrubs, trees and many flowers.

The home is filled with cherished family heirlooms. Antique silver, china, oriental rugs, books and other furnishings decorate the home. There are many family photo albums, some dating back to the 1870s giving you a good look at the oldest wineries and elegant lifestyle of the Tubbs family and their friends.

The Tubbs and the Reids were two of Napa Valley's earliest and most glamorous residents. The Reid name is an important part of San Francisco architecture (The Fairmont Call Building, Hotel Del Coronodo, etc.) and the Tubbs family established an empire supplying cordage to the Clipper ships of San Francisco Harbor and founded Calistoga's Chateau Montelena in 1880. The marriage of these families brought an exciting era to Calistoga that carried into the new century. An old Steinway grand piano sits waiting to be played.

For meetings or parties there is a 12-foot antique table which seats up to 18. A small lake stocked with bass and catfish is located on the property for fishing. Hike on 36 hilly acres, or just relax in the sun, enjoying tropics-like surroundings and a million dollar view.
