    Plumas County is known for its many uncrowded outdoor opportunities. Fly fishing, lake fishing, hunting, Feather River kayaking, snowmobiling, mining, and mountain biking are all popular. Fall colors are inspiring. Gold mining history abounds. The famous Keddie Wye of railroad history is nearby. Guide services are available locally for those interested in trophy trout, with trips to Bucks Lake, Lake Almanor, Lake Davis, and Eagle Lake to mention a few.
    At Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds one can often find outstanding intercollegiate rodeo competition, NASCAR racing, classic car shows, chili cookoffs, music festivals including the High Sierra Music Festival and Joshua Fest, and in August the fair itself.
    Within easy walking distance are a variety of shops, restaurtants, an antique store, theaters, and others. Gansner Field airport is nearby. Feather River College is just down the road.
