Bed and Breakfast Description

For generations, families have sojourned here,and it's no wonder! Carol and Dave Smith Sr. renovated the farmhouse/boarding house in the 1950s, built additional cottages to supplement the now-vintage 1920s cottages, and added a bright game room that is popular with guests of all ages. Today the Smith children and grandchildren continue the innkeeping tradition, maintaining this old-style country resort that is an iconic and acclaimed respite from the modern world.

Inside the inn, the rooms are as you would expect. Gracious public rooms include a parlor, two dining rooms, and two living rooms where you will find couches, fireplaces, a Steinway piano, and endless shelves of books, puzzles, games, and magazines. The separate game room has ping pong, fooseball, a well-stocked game cupboard and toy box.

In the upstairs of the inn, there are 8 immaculate guest rooms, each with private bath. These rooms, bright and airy, have views of the lake and either queen beds or twin & queen beds.

Meals are a homemade delight: breakfast includes muffins, breads, granola, and fresh fruit for starters, followed by special omelets, French toast, and waffles, or the Lodge's famous pancakes. Dinner is like a homecoming each evening--served at your own candlelit table, and featuring our chef's sumptuous culinary creations made with local and Vermont ingredients. Box lunches and beach picnic are available to Lodge guests, as well as our full lunch menu with delicious and diverse offerings.

Our cozy farmhouse inn is home to generations of families. The playroom has ping pong, fooseball, a well-stocked game cupboard & toy box. Comfy sitting areas include: parlor with grand piano; library with fire place, books, puzzles and magazines; Queen Anne porch with rockers and lake views. Wireless internet service in public areas.

In Summer: Hiking, biking, private beach on beautiful lake, golf nearby, swimming, boating, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, childrens' play program, walking or bicycling country roads, spring/summer nature camps.

Any season: fine dining in our dining room, lovely picnic spots nearby, independent bookstores, country stores, museums, antiquing, Cabot Creamery factory tours, sugarhouses and gift shops. Guided nature walks, driving tours, architectural walk of Greensboro village.

Most Popular Rooms:

Room 21 is spacious and sunlit,with a southern exposure and windows on three sides overlooking garden, meadow, and lake. Furnished with antiques, this lovely room has queen & twin bed, and private bath with tub and shower.

The upstairs rooms are all bright, airy, and have views of the lake. The rooms are furnished with either queen bed or queen bed & twin bed, rocker or easy chair, and dressers and nightstands from Vermont's Ethan Allen Furniture.
