Victorian residence circa 1850, today a B&B in the Vermont tradition. Located in Chester, VT, the Hugging Bear's shop features the finest selection of Teddy Bears and stuffed toys in the Northeast. Country Inns and Teddy Bears are both symbols of warmth, closeness and family ties. They belong together! Teddies of every size and personality give the Inn a homey touch all its own.

Stay in any of five guest rooms blending 19th Century charm and modern touches,each with a private bath. Rooms accommodate couples, singles,and families. Newly painted and refurbished. Wake up to a hearty country breakfast where seconds are encouraged and there is plenty of maple syrup for your pancakes. Plain, apple or blueberry pancakes, French toast,eggs,bacon,juices,coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Relax on a spacious wrap-around porch, in the living room, or the cozy den featuring a television and cheerful fireplace.

Georgette Thomas, the innkeeper, welcomes children of all ages to this lovely Victorian Inn filled with laughter and Teddy Bears. This place is enchanting and magical. It is a place to remember the child in all of us and have fun!

We are surrounded by 7 major ski areas (Stratton, Bromley, Magic, Mount Snow, Okemo, Ascutney and Killington). Nearby there are cross country skiing, tubing skating and snow mobile rentals.

In the spring or summer, there is horseback riding,several golf courses, biking or hiking (Appalachian or the Long trail)and fishing! The Bromley Mountain Alpine slide and Thrill Zone are great ways to spend your day if you like adventure and thrills. Close to Montshire Museum of Nature & Science, Fort 4, Hildene and St. Gaudin's Gardens.

Our teddy bear shop carries the largest selection of plush toys and collectibles in New England. Our Steiff event parties are famous.
The Carraige House has the newly opened Watermusic Art Gallery. Chester has many antique shops,galleries and small shops. We have a unique suspension walking bridge in town that goes across the Williams River. In September, we have a craft fair, and in December a wonderful Overture to Christmas.

One of our most popular rooms is the Tower room. A quaint, round room with a queen size bed, lots of bright sunlight, private bathroom and A/C.

All rooms have A/C and private baths. There is a teddy bear theme in each room as well as a teddy bear in every bed.
