Bed and Breakfast Description

An elegant 16-room Greek Revival mansion just off the commons in the historic district of beautiful Petersham, in central Massachusetts. Across from a 32-acre wildlife meadow preserve, views of Mount Wachusett and the countryside reflect the tranquility of this classic New England town.

Completed in 1842, the inn has been gracefully restored, retaining much of its original ambiance. Six beautifully appointed guest rooms, each with a private bath and most with a working fireplace assure a stay of comfort and relaxation. Our brand new Tuscany Suite is a romantic retreat with a cozy sitting room containing a fire place and pull out sofa. The bedroom overlooks the grounds with three windows. The bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub and separate stall shower. Each guest room has its own distinct personality and color scheme. A delightful breakfast with hot entree is served in the formal dining room each morning.

Our guests can relax in the newly redecorated living room or curl up with a good book in the library. Both rooms have lovely fireplaces. Winterwood has two screened porches, a deck and a hammock in the shade all of which may be used to spend a lazy summer afternoon with a cool drink.

Antique walnut furniture graces the Victorian Room with wall covering in soft peach tones. There is a queen size bed, working fireplace, air conditioning and a sofa bed with plenty of room to relax. This quiet room is carpeted and has a lovely bathroom.

The Blue and White Porcelain room has grass cloth wallcovering, Oriental rugs, a working fireplace, air conditioning and a queen size bed with a half tester. The colors of the porcelain in the curio are reflected in the bed hangings and the bathroom.
