 An elegant 16-room Greek Revival mansion just off the commons in the historic district of beautiful Petersham, in central Massachusetts. Across from a 32-acre wildlife meadow preserve, views of Mount Wachusett and the countryside reflect the tranquility of this classic New England town. Completed in 1842, the inn has been gracefully restored, retaining much of its original ambiance. Six beautifully appointed guest rooms (each with a private bath and most with a working fireplace) assure a stay of comfort and relaxation. Each guest room has its own distinct personality and color scheme. A delightful breakfast with hot entree is served in the formal dining room each morning. Our guests can relax in the newly redecorated living room or curl up with a good book in the library. Both rooms have lovely fireplaces. Winterwood has two screened porches, a deck and a hammock in the shade all of which may be used to spend a lazy summer afternoon with a cool drink. Winterwood at Petersham has the ideal setting that will make your event a most memorable one. Winterwood has hosted intimate weddings, rehersal dinners, birthday and aniversary celebrations, corporate events and cocktail receptions, and chosen "Editor's Pick" from Yankee Magazine. We are currently converting one of the bedrooms into a 2 room suite: a sitting room with pullout sofa bed, a bedroom with queen size bed and bay windows, and bathroom with jacuzzi and stall shower. Area Attractions and Activities: Quabbin Reservoir and State Forest... convenient to golf, hiking, bicycling, antique shopping, birdwatching, downhill and cross-country skiing, and horseback riding. Sturbridge and Old Deerfield nearby. Band concerts in the summer on the common. Old country store within walking distance Services: Winterwood is available for intimate weddings, birthday and anniversary parties, full liquor license Most Popular Rooms: Antique walnut furniture graces the Peach Room with wallcovering in soft peach tones. There is a queen size bed, working fireplace, air conditioning and a sofa bed with plenty of room to relax. This quiet room is carpeted and has a lovely bathroom. The Blue and White Porcelain room has grass cloth wallcovering, Oriental rugs, a working fireplace, air conditioning and a queen size bed with a half tester. The colors of the porcelain in the curio are reflected in the bed hangings and the bathroom. |
