Bed and Breakfast Description

It was the ideal site for the influential Queen Anne style home of John E. Sise (1830-1898), a successful merchant and prominent Portsmouth businessman. Today, the Sise Inn is one of the finest hotels in Portsmouth, reigning over a restored Haymarket Square and sharing its rich historical legacy with guests from around the world.

Upon entering the Inn, you will immediately notice the gleaming grandeur of the front foyer and its magnificent butternut staircase. The beauty of its 19th century architecture has been completely restored to grand style throughout the Inn; original woodwork, elegant antiques and period reproductions recall the graciousness of Victorian life.

Each room and suite includes private bath, hairdryer, telephone, television, iron and ironing board.

In addition to our comfortable guest rooms and suites, the Sise Inn has three generous function rooms that offer a welcome alternative to other hotels in Portsmouth, NH. Executive Suites: Larger rooms with a sitting area and a few can accommodate up to four guests. Each offers a queen bed. Options available are whirlpool bathtubs or queen sized sofa beds.

Executive Rooms: Designed for one or two occupants. Each one offers a queen, a full, or two twin sized beds. Desks available in certain rooms.
