Poor Richard's Inn of Cape May
Cape May, New Jersey.
Classic gingerbread guesthouse offers accommodations with eclectic Victorian and country decor. A wonderful eight-room Victorian on gorgeous Jackson Street, less than a minute's walk to Cape May's main beach.
Bed and Breakfast Accommodations

Poor Richard's Inn offers rooms furnished with antiques of eclectic nature. Some of the decor is more towards the country Victorian, featuring our collection of patchwork quilts, oak and pine furniture, blanket chests, hook rugs and painted cottage beds. In other areas the decor is more traditionally Victorian, with marble top bureaus, ornate beds, floral wallpapers, Lincoln rockers and the like. All bedrooms are air-conditioned. All rooms have their own bath.
While the whole of downtown Cape May is on the National Register of Historic Places, our distinctive Second Empire style exterior has earned us an individual listing on the register. We have added a new slate roof and applied a multi-color paint scheme that accentuates the details in the interlocking facade of bays and bracketed cornices, porches with arched gingerbread, and fretwork balustrades, beltcorses, friezes, and other things one looks up in architectural dictionaries.
Poor Richard's is centrally located in the middle of town on a residential block, 1/2 a block to the shopping mall, and three houses from the beach. We are right next to the famous Mad Batter Restaurant, and within walking distance of nearly everything.
European style breakfast convenient for both early risers and late sleepers. Help yourself to croissants, fruit breads, coffee, tea, juice, cereal, fresh fruit and yogurt.
Innkeeper is an artist and her work is displayed throughout the house.

Most Popular Rooms:
Rooms #2 & #7 have beautiful painted "cottage" furniture dating from the 1880's. All rooms contain original artwork.
Each room is different and guests each have their own favorite. Some like to be tucked away, others like to be down near the porches. The clawfoot tub in #6 is a favorite, as well as #2's side entrance. Room #4 is popular because it is so inexpensive.
