Kennicott Glacier Lodge

Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, Alaska.

Enjoy the awesome beauty of America's largest National Park from the comfort of our first-class wilderness lodge. The Kennicott Glacier Lodge, built in the style of the ghost town, has all the conveniences of a modern hotel, with 35 rooms and restaurant.

Bed and Breakfast Description

Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, Alaska bed and breakfast: Kennicott Glacier Lodge

The Kennicott Glacier Lodge features homemade cooking, comfortable and immaculate rooms, a panoramic front porch, and friendly service.

The lodge is an historic replica in the style of the surrounding mining ghost town. It is decorated with mining artifacts and is almost a museum in itself. Guests spend hours "reading the walls". Do you know what a schoolteacher made in 1916? Or the latest fashions of 1924? You'll find out if you look hard enough.

Great food! You’ll enjoy the casual atmosphere and congenial staff when you dine in our centrally located dining room. Breakfast is a buffet, lunch is served from a menu, and dinner is served family style at a single seating (7 pm). The fare has been called "wilderness gourmet" and features homemade soups, pastries, breads and luscious desserts.

You can drive or fly to Kennicott. There are lots of outdoor activities and spectacular scenery here in America's largest National Park, and you can enjoy this without the crowds of people found in other parks.

If you enjoy the outdoors and remote wilderness, yet like the creature comforts of a rustic lodge, there is no better place in Alaska.

    Area Attractions and Activities:

This is a great opportunity to enjoy an International World Heritage area, and the largest National Park in the USA. Wrangell-St Elias National Park in Alaska is a 13.2 million acre park, mostly wilderness, and has been called "North America's Mountain Kingdom".

Huge snow capped mountains, immense ice fields, hundreds of glaciers, mighty rivers and streams, and boreal forests all welcome you here. This Park is relatively undiscovered, so you can enjoy the area at a leisurely pace and without the crowds.

Enjoy photography, world class scenery, historic ghost town tours, glacier walks, great hiking trails, mountain biking, flightseeing, and river rafting.

The copper mining ghost town of Kennicott is a National Historic Landmark and is in the middle of Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. See how early 20th century miners built a world class copper mine in the wilderness of Alaska. Tour the copper processing "mill building" and visit the museum in McCarthy.

    Most Popular Rooms:

Room 3: Our largest guestroom in the Main Lodge features 2 double beds and can accommodate a roll-away bed. Like all rooms, it is decorated with historic mining artifacts and photos. It also has an outside door onto our panoramic front porch.

The South Wing building has ten almost identical rooms, each with 2 queen beds and a private bathroom. A rollaway will easily fit. All rooms have a view out over the Kennicott Glacier, and the first floor rooms have outside access onto the front porch.
