Bed and Breakfast Description

Welcome! We are a small family business, conveniently located on Hwy 16-385, just one mile south of the little town of Hill City where you will find excellent dining, churches, shops, art galleries, groceries, gas and laundromat.

Situated on the edge of a little valley, the cabins are nestled in the pines, with mountains and Black Hills National Forest rising directly behind. History abounds. Some of the cabins were once located on the site of the Harney Tin Mining & Mfg. Co. of the 1880's. Others were built during the "baby boom," while our new 2 bedroom cabins were completed in 1999.

Be prepared to fall in love with the simplicity of cabin life and return again and again. The ambiance of history combined with plenty of modern comforts makes Pine Rest Cabins your ideal home away from home. While each cabin has its own character, "clean and cozy" describes them all.

Each cabin has Cable TV/VCR/DVD player, private bath, furnished kitchenette including coffee maker and microwave. Linens, tableware and basic kitchen utensils are provided. Your own charcoal grill and picnic table rests outside. A phone is available on our front porch for your outgoing calls. Wireless Internet access is now available from your cabin with your own laptop.

After a day in the woods our Bathhouse Spa with hot tub is enjoyed year around, while the sauna is reserved for the cool season. Take a break... head for the cabins!

Area Attractions and Activities:

We are centrally located to all major attractions, with Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and Custer State Park all less than 20 minutes away. There are nice lakes, with beach areas within seven miles of water fun. You may want to take a scenic drive through the Needles Highway, hike Harney Peak, explore a cave, go on a horseback ride, climb a mountain or simply go fishing.

The George S. Mickelson Trail (rails to trails) runs parallel to us, just across the road, with public access less than 1 mile. The list goes on and we are always happy to learn about your interests and point you in the right direction.

Most Popular Rooms:

Aspen, Birch, Cedar, and Dakota are the newest additions to Pine Rest Cabins. They feature knotty pine inside and out, with cozy sitting area & fireplace, plus two bedrooms. They have been popular with couples and families as well.

Our historic cabins are each one bedroom and will sleep 4, 6 or 8 people. Each kitchenette has a stove, microwave, refrigerator. With each cabin's individual "personality," everyone has their own personal favorite. A Black Hills tradition since 1911.
