Aliento is a sprawling authentic adobe hacienda with a castle-like tower. This Casa Grande (hacienda or main house) hosts over 3500 square feet, including the guest accommodations, a common living/dining area and full kitchen.

The interior of this one hundred plus year old adobe home features saltillo tile floors with oriental rugs, exposed vigas, kiva fireplaces and rustic Santa Fe style furnishings. The main hacienda has three private bedrooms while two independant suites with kitchens are connected to the main building through a walled courtyard. Each room/suite is decorated in a different style of its own. There are lovely portals (covered porches) all around the central courtyard and buildings, creating the ambiance that is "Santa Fe - the city different". The courtyard is a favorite place to enjoy the weather, put something on the BBQ, read a book or just listen to the sound of the fountain. The compound abounds with birds and butterflies and the goldfish in the pond always welcome an observer.

Aliento is located just 20 minutes south of the Plaza (heart) of Santa Fe, on State Highway 14. This is the historic and scenic "Turquoise Trail" winding through the old mining towns of Cerrillos and Madrid to the south of us. Two ski areas are within a 30 minute drive, 3 more within 1 1/2 hours. Thousands of acres of national forest with hiking, fishing, horseback riding nearby. There are several well known golf courses as well as spas and hot springs.We are next door to the Bonanza Creek Movie Ranch where Wyatt Earp and Wild Hogs were filmed, just to name a few. We are just a few miles from the Alan Houser Compound, old Turquoise mines and the San Marcos Pueblo.Santa Fe has over 200 galleries and restaurants to explore, not to mention the opera and at least 7 major museums. Aliento itself is a glass art compound where etched and carved glass objects are created. You may visit the studio any time during it's regular operating hours.

Most Popular Rooms:

The Pena Blanca Suite is our most popular suite for extended stays with it's apartment style layout. It has a fire place and is furnished with hand crafted furniture made by Ernest Thompson. It has it's own kitchen and offers a separate shower and tub.

The coziest room is the Morocco Room named after the pearl inlaid door to the bathroom. Camel blankets adorn the walls and you can dream of exotic places while soaking in the clawfoot bathtub. The powder room and a shower room are separate.
