Hughes House B&B
Calgary, Alberta.
Hughes House is an elegantly renovated 1914 Victorian home. From the moment you enter the foyer you'll feel the difference. As the 21st century begins, Hughes House provides a welcoming warm atmosphere in an early 1900's setting.
Bed and Breakfast Description

Located on a quiet street in the heart of Calgary, Hughes' House Bed and Breakfast is within walking distance of the city's downtown, Zoo, and Fort Calgary.
Each morning continental breakfast and coffee are served. Guests can also use the dining room for closed conferences. Beverages and snacks can be provided.
Guest rooms have all new appointments from paint and broadloom to period-style wall paper and big comfortable beds. The huge old claw foot cast iron tubs remain but gold taps and faux marble shelves have been added.
The Hughes House is named for Dr. Ralph Raymond Hughes who moved to Calgary in 1912 with his young family. The house was built in 1914 and was their home until about 1940. Dr. Hughes was a prominent early Calgarian serving as chairman of the General Hospital and as deacon and board member of his church for over forty years. He and his family are interred in Union Cemetery in Calgary.
The 1876 rosewood grand piano presides over one end of the living room opposite the fireplace surrounded by comfortable couches and chairs at the other end. Leather wing chairs and antique mahogany and walnut furniture complete the transition to an earlier time.
The Bed and Breakfast features antiques, is family friendly and is rich with history.
