Bed and Breakfast Description

Markham House is in a best of all worlds location on Southern Vancouver Island. We are 30 minutes from downtown Victoria, 40 Minutes to Wine Country, between 12 and 30 minutes to fabulous beaches and marine parks, and an hour or so to the "end of the road" at Botanical Beach in Port Renfrew. We are in the peaceful country side on 10 acres of landscaped gardens and forest.

Our Tudor style home reflects the comforts of the past with all the amenities of the present. Discreetly presented is Cable TV, VCR, DVD, stereo, in-room telephone, and wireless Internet access.

Enjoy all the many outdoor activities like kayaking, cycling, hiking, birdwatching--and be close enough to make the city of Victoria a day trip. Choose to visit the pastoral Cowichan Valley--taste the wines, visit the quaint towns of Chemanius, Duncan, Ladysmith.

Area Attractions and Activities:

Salmon fishing, whale watching, hiking, cycling, birdwatching, sailing, ocean kayaking are the things to do, or, just enjoy reading your book in the garden or on one of the nearby beaches.

Visit East Sooke Regional Waterfront Park or trek the Juan de Fuca Trail. Take in the "Potholes" on Sooke river, and then dine at our famous local Sooke Harbour House, the new and becoming renowned Markus' Wharfside featuring Mediterannean cuisine in a waterfront setting. Enjoy a casual meal at the historic 17 Mile Pub, just down the road.

Day trip to the wonderful wine country of the Cowichan Valley, enjoy tastings and fine dining in the vinyards. Don't forget Botanical Beach at Port Renfrew--a visit a low tide surpasses, (in my opinion) all the famous wilderness beaches on the island.

Day trip to Victoria to visit the Royal B.C. Museum, Tea at the Empress, enjoy the fun of Fisherman's Wharf, explore historic olde town and china town--great fun for an afternoon.
