Bed and Breakfast Description

Charming historic home originally built in 1934 in the Colonial Revival Style. The house was intended as the residence for the Commanding Medical Officer of the U.S. Quarantine Station maintained here at Point Hudson. Over the years, as the property changed hands, this gracious home has been occupied by a number of Coast Guard, Navy, and Army Commanding Officers and their families.

Now this delightful Cape Cod style Beach House, located within three blocks of the downtown restaurants and shops, provides the perfect setting to "relax and solve nothing". Explore our eclectic town, rich with maritime tradition. Or walk the beach to the Point Wilson Lighthouse just two miles away. Then dine in one of our many superb restaurants featuring Japanese, Thai, Italian, Mexican, French as well as outstanding northwest seafood and cuisine.

Fall asleep lulled by the sounds of the sea. Then begin your day with a delicious gourmet breakfast, featuring fresh seasonal fruit, homemade baked goods, and an exciting entree, served in the setting of your choice.

Dine at your own individual table overlooking Pt. Wilson Lighthouse, Mt. Baker, the ferries and Whidbey Island. If the weather permits, you may choose to eat breakfast outside on our sunny covered verandah.

We are an easy stroll to the many shops and restaurants on the main streets of Port Townsend. Walk to Pt. Wilson Lighthouse, the Marine Science Center or Chetzemoka Park.

Go whale watching, sea kayaking, mountain biking, or sailing aboard a classic wooden boat. All of these activities are easily accessible from our beach house.

Take a day trip to Friday Harbor, Victoria, B.C., Hurricane Ridge, the Hoh rain forest, or Olympic National Park. The Commander's Beach House makes the perfect headquarters for all of your vacation dreams.

Most Popular Rooms:

Lighthouse Suite: Furnished in soft greens, rose and cream, the suite includes a private bath and an adjoining room for a third person. Binoculars are provided for observing the many shore birds, boats and marine mammals that are close at hand.

Island View Room: Fall asleep to the sounds of the sea. This romantic chamber is adorned like an English garden in rich burgundies and cream. Surround yourself in comfort in the cozy queen sized sleigh bed. Fluffy terry cloth robes are supplied.

Reservation Notes:

A 14 day cancellation notice is required, otherwise you will be responsible for any nights that cannot be resold. $99 + tax, per night, special in the Schooner and Island View rooms for a 2 night stay, Sunday through Thursday.
