Vergas, Minnesota bed and breakfast: Loghouse & Homestead
This elegant and romantic bed and breakfast boasts a multitude of amenities including in-room fireplaces, whirlpools for two, private breakfasts and a sky-lit Swedish suite. All five guestrooms have lakeside balconies or porches. Three hiking trails grace the premises. Canoes, rowboats and snowshoes (gratis) offer guests the best of Minnesota seasonal activities. It is a perfect choice for honeymoons and weddings.

The Loghouse and Homestead is comprised of two very different structures: the 1902 Swedish homestead original to the property and the innkeepers' great - great grandfather's 1889 loghouse, which was moved intact from northern Minnesota and still wears its original interior whitewash. Six generations of the innkeeper's family have slept under its roof. Now you can too.

Breakfast is meant to be an experience. This bountiful meal occurs in front of the fire or on the screened porch at the Log House. At The Homestead, service is in-room on linen-dressed teacarts, while the Suite has a private breakfast room. Fresh-squeezed orange juice and fresh-ground coffee are "de rigueur". See our recipes for examples of main dishes paired with local sausage and fresh fruit. All breads and sweets are fresh from the oven!
Area Attractions and Activities:
Birdwatching, hiking, biking, antiquing, golfing, fishing (catch and release), prairie history museums, numerous festivals - "We Fest", "Think Off."

This little hostelry is located in picturesque Otter Tail County in the heart of Minnesota's west central lakes region. It is a verdant land in summer, a riot of color in autumn and pristine white in winter--a lovely playground for any season. Watching the lake ice "go out" in spring can be spectacular.
