Bed and Breakfast Description

Extended-stay options across the street at our "Holly House." Daily rates as low as $28 (one month or more), call for details. Both houses show great attention to detail in the extensive restorations. Short-term full-service stays at the inn pamper guests with a minimum of formality, accommodating their sense of 'escape' from routines, schedules, etc.

Enjoy the huge wraparound columned porch surrounded by gardens and a sense of privacy. Dolly and Frank are happy to assist in any way possible and offer a courtesy tour of the area. Disciplined young children welcome.

Weddings, receptions, reunions involving smaller groups (less than 75 persons) arranged according to availability. "Everything has a story" and your hosts, as creators of the inn over 13 years ago, are glad to share what they know about anything of interest.

All rooms have private baths. There are two 2-person Jacuzzi suites, including an upstairs 3-room suite with balcony. Please visit our web site. Also, all guests, upon request, get complimentary "Dolly Dollars" toward purchases in Dolly's special 'one-of-a-kind' shop in the Holly House. Kitty-lovers will love Sonya (inn) and Prancer and Precious (Holly House). Pet-sensitive? We can accommodate; also, our 4-zone HVAC system at the inn minimizes any air-borne allergies.

Nearby attractions include Duke University, Durham Bulls ballpark, Civic Center, excellent restaurants and shops, extended walking/biking trail, 20 minutes from RDU airport.

Area Attractions and Activities:

Duke University, Duke Gardens and Duke Chapel, Life & Science Museum (with its magnificent butterfly exhibit), Tobacco Museum & Duke Homestead, Brightleaf district.

Great restaurants, walking/biking along the American Tobacco Trail (more than 5 miles in length), special productions and events at nearby Carolina Theatre, exercise/swim at the nearby YMCA, visiting other areas of "The Triangle" including Chapel Hill, Raleigh, and Hillsborough (all within a half-hour's driving time).

Many antique shops and major weekend flea market (State Fairgrounds), award-winning NC Museum of Art, weekend jazz and dancing options, Irish pubs, one of the best wine and cheese selections on the East Coast at Fowler's, patio dining option at George's Gourmet Garage....

Morning Glory: Luxury 3-room suite features include a magnificent mid-Victorian, partially canopied bed, stained glass, balcony, Direct TV, and 2-person Jacuzzi. Purple/mauve colors. Dimmer lights, candle lamps, stereo system. Two original oak mantles.

The Ivy Room: A large, high-ceilinged bedroom on the first floor. Features a high-back Victorian cherry queen size bed, bath/shower, stained glass, sitting area, private porch access.
