The Inn on Thistle Hill nestles against the hillside of its ten acres of both wooded & open land in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Visit wineries, go antiquing, hike Old Rag Mountain or simply relax in the garden or ramble through our woods.

Bed and Breakfast Description

In the spring and summer, hundreds of irises, glads, lilies, and flowering plants bring goldfinches, cardinals and the most incredible tiny hummingbirds to visit. Sometimes, a white eagle will fly over, a Guardian of the Land.

In the fall and winter, oak, maple, pear and ginko trees splash the place with reds, yellows, oranges and colors I have no names for. And the winter quietude . . .

Our rooms and cottages have the best beds we could find, ironed high thread count sheets and Egyptian cotton towels. Our made-to-order breakfasts are from natural, organically grown food as much as is obtainable.

The Inn on Thistle Hill is in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, near Shenandoah National Park, Monticello, Montpelier, & Luray Caverns. Hiking on Old Rag Mountain, bicycling, horseback riding, antiquing and antique auctions are just some of the many things to see and do nearby.

Hosts who are truly glad to see you, old world comforts, modern amenities and delicious breakfasts make this B&B the ideal location to rest and rejuvenate. Relax on one of the decks or in the gazebo. Tramp through our woods or just relax in the garden chairs.

Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive is only about 12 minutes away. Hiking on Old Rag Mountain and White Oak Canyon. Canoeing on the Shenandoah River, Luray Caverns, Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello in Charlottesville, James Madison’s Montpelier near Orange, VA in Montpelier Station.

The Inn at Little Washington and other excellent restaurants are only minutes away.

We're only 20 minutes away from Commonwealth Park in Culpeper where you can attend the Horse Shows.

The Gold Room - In its own wing. Has a king-size 4-poster bed, a bathtub/shower bathroom, walk-in closet, stained glass windows, a small private deck and a balcony overlooking an almost-private Great Room.

The Meadowlark Cottage - Separated from the main house, this lovely cottage has a covered deck and pond and fountain,. It has a king-size bed and skylights, an adjoining private sunroom/sitting room and small deck by the sunroom.
