New Albany, Indiana bed and breakfast: Honeymoon Mansion
Listed on the National Register of Historic homes as the Ferry-Green House, this Victorian Italianate was built in 1850 by Levi Ferry. Ferry was a wealthy businessman who made most of his fortune insuring the cargo that traveled the mighty Ohio. He had seven children and they lived here for nearly thirty years. Sue Green, a great-niece of Florence Nightingale, was the next known owner. In the nearly forty years. she lived at the Mansion she followed in the footsteps of her famous relative and headed the local American Red Cross. The Mansion was eventually converted to apartments, and existed that way for nearly thirty years. The last use before renovation was the home of New Life Ministries. In 1985, major renovation and restoration began. It would take nearly two long years to bring the mansion back to life and to resemble its former glory. Landon and Janet purchased the property and business in May 2002. Their ambitious energies have led them to do major upgrades. A large deck, fishpond, landscaping, new (old) furnishings, and lots and lots of paint helped revitalize and once again breathe color and personality to this Victorian beauty. Our recently added garden gazebo provides a wonderful venue for your small wedding and/or reception. Its also a great place just to hang out. A two person cot is just a few feet away. The relaxing sound of the waterfall and the breeze rustling through the Magnolias and wisteria wil wisk you and the worries of the day away. Come and enjoy!
